Uncaged: Card Game
Uncaged is a Mixed Martial Arts card game. Two players take turns to attack and defend with cards representing kicks, punches, blocks and other moves.
Under the Art Direction of Kendrick Tu, I worked on the UX of the cards to create a system of iconography to reduce the use of text on the cards and simplify the mechanics to new players. I also identified the colour-based category system as an accessibility issue and created an alternate means of differentiation.

User Testing
I designed and led the first major round of play testing, with 28 players. Players were observed during the game, and given a questionnaire. Most questions were answered on a Likert Scale (1 - strongly disagree 5 - strongly agree).
The results of the questionnaire confirmed players were able to understand the key mechanics and perceive the mixture of strategy and luck. Based on observations, we decided to standardize the placement of the layout of the card category indicator, for scanability when the deck is fanned within a player's hand.
Manual & Game Components
Following the user testing, I worked with the game designers and art director to create the manual to explain the game.
I also designed the scoresheet, and level change indicator which is used to show whether the 'fight' is in the standing or ground level, as it changes during gameplay.
